Party dresses for the day time?! Of course!

“Life is a party. Dress like it.” Audrey Hepburn

Dressed up with heels…. Dressed down for the day would be switching my shoes to gold slide on sneakers and adding a faded denim jacket!

Think about the dresses in your closet. Are they gathering dust? Are they getting those imprints in the shoulders because tthey’ve been on a hanger for 10 months? Are you wondering if they’re in style anymore, since you haven’t worn them since your dating days? Some of my dresses haven’t seen daylight in a long time. For some reason my mindset was along the lines of I’m a stay at home mom and active during the day, so I need comfort clothing but that won’t get ruined.

Okay, so this was very true during the baby stage. But not anymore! My kids are 3 and 4 years old and spend some some mornings in preschool. Yes, I still run errands, grocery shop, attend bible study, and take my kids for haircuts and to the playground- but that’s all totally doable in a dress, too! Jeans and shorts are not my ONLY option.

Plus, I love dresses! They are one piece of clothing (i.e. extremely easy to throw on in the morning), very flattering, and feminine. It took me time to learn how to “dress them down”, but I’ve figured it out. Cute and casual shoes such as slide ons or an edgy high top or ankle boot are perfect. Everyone knows how to wear a casual dress with sandals in the summer, but once fall and winter roll around, it’s hard to figure out how to style nicer dresses in an everyday look.

I paired this dress with black Rockport Willa High Tops and headed out the door for preschool drop off!

Are you limiting your wardrobe options by dismissing your dresses? Probably. So I encourage you to shift your mindset. If you are out of the baby stage, go ahead, wear a dress one day this week! Throw on cute sneakers, a denim jacket or military vest, and I guarantee you will feel great, look great, and be Cute with Kids approved!
