The Everyday Fitness Routine!

Fitness is part of my daily routine. Not a huge kickass workout, just moving and staying healthy. Because life with kids is constantly changing, so is the way I work out. I use the term “work out” loosely, because it means different things to different people. For me, working out means getting exercise….that might be a bike ride with my kids, pushing them to school in the double stroller, or swimming laps. OR, or even just cleaning my house and running up and down the stairs 15 times!

Pre-divorce, when my kids were 3 and under, I was mostly walking. Once I split from my husband, I had two pockets of built in time, when he had the kids for dinner twice a week. I started walking for 30-40 minutes, mostly as a way to reduce my stress and anxiety about my current situation. (Then of course, I had my foot problems…I had to switch to bike riding and swimming until my podiatrist saved my life with custom orthotics for my high arches!)

If you read my last blog post, you know I’ve started pushing my kids to preschool 3-4 times a week in the double stroller. It is a little over 3 miles round trip, and a huge workout! When the weather is nice, I’d rather walk and arrive home already done with my exercise.

So it goes to show that a “workout’ does not always mean heading to the gym….In fact, I hate the gym. I find it incredibly boring. It feels like work. And I want exercise to be fun!

So let’s talk about workout clothes…or athleisure…or athletic wear. Whatever you call it, it’s a huge category of clothes. I have a great pair of lululemon leggings, but they are expensive……and that’s why I have one pair and 1 pair only. I have spent SO much time looking for workout clothes that are cute, comfortable, and don’t fall apart after a few washes. Recently I tested out a cute blue pair from Old Navy and they showed sweat immediately – not a good thing!! And while there is a lot of stuff out there, I’m picky. Plus, I also don’t want to hunt around at tjmaxx anymore….my time is more precious than that!

So when I stumbled across Zyia Activewear, I was intrigued. They had so many colors and prints to offer! I like bright, summery colors (even in winter) and depending on the season, that can be hard to find. After doing some research, I signed up for a starter kit and received the Bumblebee Light n Tight High Rise 7/8 24” in a size 4 (I’m 5’8″ and 125 lbs), the Turquoise Copper Charged Tank (size small), Coral All star bra, (size medium), black mesh ZYIA trucker hat, and White and Navy Stripe Break Jacket. (size small).

Aren’t sports bras hard to find? I mostly find them uncomfortable because the straps either push down on my neck, or the sizing is off…Sometimes I break a sweat just trying to get into a sports bra, because I have broad shoulders, and that’s not the sweat I want to be breaking, just getting into my clothes!

So this particular ZYIA sports bra is great because it has a zipper on the back, allowing me to pull it on much easier. It’s fitted, incredibly supportive, and I love the bright coral color. It also has a band under my chest, so it doesn’t ride up at all and feels more comfortable than any other sports bra I’ve ever tried!

After wearing everything for a few weeks, and liking it so much, I decided to join the company as a rep to spread the word. Interested in shopping Zyia?
