4 Minute Mom Makeup Routine: The Essentials
After I did my initial 10 minute makeup routine, I got a few requests for a 5 minute makeup routine. Hello mom life, after all!! Then my friend with 3 kids gave me the ultimate challenge: a 2 minute makeup routine. Challenge accepted! So yesterday morning, at 7:40 (school starts at 8 a.m.!), I was scrambling and thought, I’ll video right now and see what I can get on in under 5 minutes. You check out the video on my Instagram account Cutewithkids or by clicking the small IG icon at the top of the web page, OR…. If you like to proactive tips, I’ve summarized the top 3 takeaways:…

The only denim worth spending money on
I am a diehard Madewell fan. Their jeans are quite possibly the best jeans ever invented. One of the reasons is that they come in multiple rises: 9″, 10″, or even 11″. I prefer the 10″ because they suck in my tummy and keep everything in place. Winner! They also mold to my body, I never have to tug on the waist, they don’t sag or stretch out, they make my butt look great. (Aren’t those everyone’s requirements??) I could stop there, but another great thing about madewell is that they come out with new styles and colors all the time! They aren’t dirt cheap, but they aren’t so ridiculously…

Get Your (white) Kicks On!
I’ve been loving my white velcro sneakers because they’re comfy, cute, and fun to wear! And….as I strolled my way through the Nordstroms shoe department, I was blinded by not only 1, but 2 entire shoe areas that were solely dedicated to all white, leather sneakers! Hello Spring style (despite it being January…) While I love mine because they have some cute gold detailing and seem to avoid dirt pretty easily, they are from last season and currently only available here. So I hunted around for a few other good options, and here you go! Or this cute white shoe with silver accents and good arch support! If you are…

8 Tips to Simplify (or Restart) Your Makeup Routine
One of the biggest struggles for us Moms is having a makeup routine that works in the tiny amount of time that we have to get ready. This was a HUGE struggle for me when I had two under two. It took me a while to figure out what I had time for, and what I didn’t. But after complaining to a friend that I didn’t have enough time to put on eyeliner, I realized that I was being a tad dramatic – it didn’t take THAT long eyeliner, right? Maybe I could just figure out a better system! Plus, every day I’d look in the mirror and be horrified,…

Wrinkles Wrinkles go away…
Maybe you were a sun worshipper like I was….growing up in San Diego, I was always at the beach, trying to get my fair skin the darkest it could be. Not the smartest move, but with age comes wisdom, right? While I may have attained a good tan each year, all that sun damage is now coming back to haunt me! The “laugh lines” in my forehead are starting to set in, deep dish style. And while I love deep dish pizza, I do not want deep dish wrinkles in my forehead at 35! I thought about botox, because it seems to be the best solution, but it’s also creepy…

8 Lessons I’ve Learned as a Single Mom
Well, it’s the last day of 2019, and yes, that’s me on a motorcycle. A Harley Davidson to be specific! There’s a first time for everything, friends! One year ago I was sobbing my eyes out, mourning the loss of my marriage, of my future dreams, and of a life that I felt had been unfairly snatched away from me. So as I look back on the changes that occurred this year, I thought it wise to share what I’ve learned. Don’t sweat the small stuff. I used to worry about things that were honestly, not a huge deal. Worrying over things that didn’t ever come to fruition was a…

5 Tips for creating a cute “Mom Wardobe” (& finding your mama mojo!)
Sometimes as moms we lose our style. We have babies, we gain weight, we lose weight, we have no time to shop for new clothes, much less wash and fold them. I certainly felt this way when I had two kids under 2 years old! But what I wish I’d known then, I know now. Just as our lives change with kids, our wardrobes need to change too! Maybe you used to work and most of your clothing is work clothing. Or maybe you had tons of workout clothing and now the only fitness your doing is racing upstairs to grab a diaper and extra burp cloths. Whatever it may…

2020 – This year is for blooming!
Are you a planner person? Usually this question gets an affirmative “yes” or a definite “no”. People either LOVE using a planner and get a new one each year, or they just fly by the seat of their pants. (And then of course, there are the super organized people like my friend Kelly who knows the ins and outs of every way to stay organized, but she is kind of an organizing guru….) Well as much as I love technology, for some reason I need to use a paper planner that I can easily keep on my desk. I use it to write down our daily schedule, to-do lists, and…

Pass on scratchy wool, and invest in some oh so soft cashmere sweaters!
Cashmere is not only soft and luxurious, it’s currently in your price range. I refuse to buy itchy wool because it is exactly that – itchy. Instead, I wait until one specific store marks down all their cashmere to at least 60% off and then I typically buy a new sweater each year. Usually the sale is the day after Christmas, but this year the sales are starting now. YAY!! Even if you think that cashmere is difficult to maintain, think of it like this….It will last – much longer than cheap, synthetic sweaters. It is incredibly warm and soft. It will make you feel like a million dollars! So…

An unfortunate reality
“Infidelity threatens our sense of self…A violation of trust.” ~Esther Perel, Rethinking Infidelity, Ted Talk If you have ever watched Esther Perel’s Ted Talk, you may remember this quote. She tells us that affairs in the past were discovered by “a receipt in the pants pocket, or lipstick on the collar”. Yet now, the discovery of an affair is usually through technology. And what ensues is a digital trail of emails, text messages, and pictures, that span the length of the affair and reveal the intimate thoughts of both people involved. It is truly what she calls “death by a thousand cuts”. Almost a year ago, I discovered my husband’s…
