Celebrating YOU this Mother’s Day with a *magical* Hylete hoodie & the cutest activewear!
Being a mom is the BEST thing that has ever happened to me. I would choose it over & over again, every single time. It’s magical. And magically exhausting, of course! Even on Mother’s Day. But I love being a mom! Enter Mother’s Day. Because it’s next Sunday! It’s a bit different after divorce, right? For me, it’s the 3 of us. My modern day little family that I love with all my heart… BUT, it’s not really a Mother’s Day full of rest and relaxation. It’s more a day of active momming! And if I’m actively momming, or just doing my simple fitness routine– I want cute activewear! Like…

A “How To” during Quarantine: Develop an Active Lifestyle at Home
So it’s get fit or get fat time – or a bit of both . (The brownies that I baked disappeared in 2 days, 🤷♀️. And my kids were gone for the weekend, so I can’t even blame them!) But despite my increased brownie consumption, my fitness routine hasn’t changed at all over the past 2 weeks. Why not? Well first off, I’m not a gym person. I never have been; the atmosphere is not relaxing, nor is slugging it out on a stationary machine for 22 minutes…. Classes? Well, I used to love yoga, but after having kids, it became too much. Too much time. I’ve realized that heading to…

The Everyday Fitness Routine!
Fitness is part of my daily routine. Not a huge kickass workout, just moving and staying healthy. Because life with kids is constantly changing, so is the way I work out. I use the term “work out” loosely, because it means different things to different people. For me, working out means getting exercise….that might be a bike ride with my kids, pushing them to school in the double stroller, or swimming laps. OR, or even just cleaning my house and running up and down the stairs 15 times! Pre-divorce, when my kids were 3 and under, I was mostly walking. Once I split from my husband, I had two pockets…

Pushing a double stroller will get me more fit than #crossfit
Okay, maybe that title is a slight exaggeration, but last month I started walking (okay, pushing) my kids to school in my double stroller. I have the bumble ride Indie twin, so it’s a jogging stroller and is about 34 pounds without kids….. Now, my 5 year old and 3 year old are built very sturdily (spitting image of me as a child) so this is no lightweight journey! Adding up the two kids and the stroller and it’s about 120 pounds that I’m pushing. (Probably explains why I tweaked my neck as I held onto the stroller and tried to push the crosswalk button at the same time, oops).…

Run, don’t walk! Brooks Ghost 12 Running Shoes
Style is a priority for me. But comfort is, too. One without the other is like bread without butter…..No, thank you!! If you are new to my blog, the short story is that I have incredibly high arches that needed custom orthotics this year. Helloooo 35! Ha. Seriously. So high arches call for a quality shoe to exercise in. Actually, any foot requires a quality shoe to exercise in….So take note, because I’m here to help! My brother and sister in law started running together a few years ago and swore by Brooks running shoes. They were regulars at their local running store and learned that Brooks Ghost was the…

5 tips to survive (and then thrive) while grieving the loss of your marriage:
After finding out about an affair, you probably feel like your heart has been ripped apart. Your entire body is in pain. Emotionally and physically, you are in shock. Each morning you wake up thinking it was only a nightmare, and then it hits you that this is your life. If you were like me, you couldn’t eat for weeks because your stomach had tightened into a solid rock. Emotionally, you are a wreck, caught between anger, hurt, fear, and shock. Survive? Maybe. Thrive? Doubtful. I promise you, though, it gets easier. Because ten months ago, I was in your shoes. I didn’t think that the pain would go away.…

Figuring out Happy
Fun. It’s what I rediscovered about myself after I became a single mom. I’m still fun! Weird, but let me explain. I felt bogged down, anxious, like there was something wrong but I couldn’t put my finger on it. So I chalked it up to parenting. (Kids can truly suck the life out of us, right?!) . But why? I honestly had no clue why I just couldn’t relax. I guess it’s intuition that tells us when something is wrong, but we are mostly just trying to get through the day without accidents or meltdowns, so we don’t have the sense to stop and we can’t put our finger on…

Squeeze in a walk!
This year both of my kids are in morning preschool three days a week. It’s amazing. Truly. I feel like I’ve entered a new phase of life! Even though drop off is rather early for us at 8 am (I know, dont hate me, but my kids actually sleep in until 7 am….) it’s well worth the morning rush. And morning rush it is, as every mom knows! Do you ever have an idea hit you and think, wow, I’m a genius?! yeah, me too, so high five fellow genius #momhacks. Now, this may not blow your mind at first, but let it sink in. Go ahead, think of it…
